I know of a hidden treasure within Our Great Canadian Grid. Mystic Falls is the name of my neighbours Derick and Morgan Chaplin's land.
I have seen many of their builds over the years and each one seems to just get better.
From Star Wars to medieval, you never know what they will come up with next.
Morgan and Derick have been working together for 15 years.
Derick would describe himself as more of a hermit type. He is very creative and is more of a builder. He creates the builds.
Morgan is a designer who does the mapping and painting for most of the builds.
She is rather quiet but is very friendly and willing to show others their creations.
They do their own animations most of the time as well which are very good and well thought out.
What drew them to GCG mainly was the fact that it is Canadian, with a good price.
They feel that GCG to them offers a fair price, has a great owner, nice friendly people. They find that GCG is a fun place to be with a stable grid.
They just wanted to own a couple of regions and build. Being able to design items and improve on them without breaking the bank is a big plus.
Their vision of creating many things in GCG was the main goal. No up load cost being one of the great perks of our grid.
They feel they have been able to design and build new and interesting sims that they would never be able to do anywhere else.
One thing they would like to see is the ability to save Oar's. I quote: "If not in our hard drive at least a place where we can access them on a list by name or at least date."
With all the various builds I have seen over the years this would be an amazing thing to be able to do. It is sad to see them just disappear when they try something new.
They live day to day, but long term plans are building and creating all sorts of new things.
Right now they are working on Winter and Christmas designs. I have seen a few of the new builds and they are outstanding. I can't wait to see what they create next!
I have been working on getting them to sell their creations in world.
The castle is well built, with many surprises inside.
The new gypsy wagons, and area there is very well thought out, even with a lovely dancing gypsy and places to sit and eat by a fire.
The village shops give you a feeling like stepping back into the past. Horse and carriage, even a hearse and many people milling about just like it would have been.
Whatever they are planning next I am certain it will be epic to say the least!
Morgan and Derick, you bring a smile each time we meet, and an amazement at the unlimited imagination of two people who make a very awesome team.
I would love to be able to showcase each and every item I have seen there, but with limited space you will all need to just go see for yourself. Mystic Falls on the grid map.
I hope you all take a moment out of your busy schedules to go visit their sim, and then re-visit often. It is definitely worth the trip.

Hello good people. Me and my partner Bonnie Dean have a group called Bonova and we have land at Magna City, it is a great land and full of our creations.
We are builders and Bonnie is one of the best. Myself I make prim avatars to specification, just ask. We also have clothing shops at Heaven's Mall and Jen Smith's Hot Rod Diners Mall.
Hope to see you very soon

The old Neanderthalers used stones and carved their prays inside their caves. Their results are considered to be the first human artworks. As mankind evolved so did their tools. The Greeks sculpted statues out of Marble, the dutch grandmasters used oil paint and modern youth spraycans to vandalize public properties. The future generations have the privilege to carry tools like Photoshop, inworld build menu and blender for example. Beforehand an interesting development and personally I am very curious to see where it will end.
I was lucky to bump into a glimpse of this future when I noticed work of Shirah Bare. She was one of the first who responded to Marianna Monentes call up for artworks at her Sculptures Expo I wrote about in my first article ((http://www.gcgsun.ca/magazine/exploring-articles.)) When you look at her creations, and of course artworks of other people on that place, it becomes clear art will be pushed onto another level the coming years as a result of modern techniques tools.
Apart from the technique and tools it also intrigued me how Shirah have choosen her themes for her works. It obviously clear she wants to raise questions for the public. Draw a windmill for example and everybody will look at your technique and performance, maybe some will mention they have a windmill nearby, but when you create a wired globe with rotating objects inside and a spider on top above a woman on her knees you have to puzzle for a while to discover why its named "Gossip". In my opinion a great talent if you are able to create works that can be seen from different perspectives.
I had a little chat with Shirah as well to verify my findings of her other creations and to compliment her. A funny and remarkable point during that conversation was Shirah denying to be an artist. Just like me, but when you control the techniques, tools and have a mind to think outside the box and leave spectators with question then you are simply an Artist.
Curious to see why artworks are called Gossip, Connected, Chaos and Illuminated Dance? Visit the Odyssey of the Mind at region "Cedar Spings" or drop by at Shirah Bare's region "Reflections" for a cup of coffee and a chat.

July 15th is National Give Something Away Day. You can read more about that here:
I have some things to give away! I am closing down the region that hosts the Cedar Point RPG on The Great Canadian Grid. It’s called Kingfisher Bay, for those who don’t know that. I will still be an active member of the grid and it is still my virtual home. I’m just changing what I’m doing there for role play projects. Cedar Point was fantastic fun to build and everyone who came to share their words there as players made it an amazing experience. I have nothing but gratitude for all the time, energy and love shared. It was beyond awesome!
Almost every object in Cedar Point is free to copy. I’ve made it all from scratch or modded open source builds from other legitimate open source creators over the years. The region, Kingfisher Bay, will still be up until July 31st. If you want anything, go get it. I’ve got a really detailed set up going on for the infrastructure of a town or city including things like roads, homes and furniture, a police station, fire station, grocery store, medical clinic etc. Please rename things for your own regions. There’s lots to work with and mod.
If you’re copying a building, the doors are always unlinked so you need to grab them separately. Some sculpted stairs are also unlinked. I have lots of furniture and knick knacks so feel free to snoop around and copy. I set up a little reception in the community centre with some free party food etc. There’s a box of beach stuff on the beach that I didn’t have time to put out. If you are coming from the hypergrid, this is the address to type into a map search:
Falcon Island is on a region called Cedar Junction. The hypergrid address for that one would be:
I created the build for a plot and location for role play related to Cedar Point. It's meant to be a small environmental preserve/national park with cabins and a nice trail through the woods. I’m scaling down to just one region for a new project so I’m going to completely change the OAR for Falcon Island. I love the build and I’d love to share it freely with anyone who’s getting started and wants a natural environment. You can ask Roddie Macchi to load the whole OAR for you for your region if you like or just come get some freebies and pick out what you like. The OAR request option is only available to GCG residents with land to load one in on. If you do load the OAR and use it for role play, I only ask that it in no way be associated with or refer to any previous stories of Cedar Point RPG or Alexandra RPG on the hypergrid. Those stories are unique and proprietary both past and present.
If you are in GCG type Kingfisher Bay into a map search and you’ll get to Cedar Point. Type in Cedar Junction to find Falcon Island. Or check my profile pics under Anna Wright.

Our grid’s very own lighting and furniture guy
One day I noticed an ad come up while on the grid. It was for a fog machine. Being my curious self, I decided to check it out. What I found was much, much more!
Jessi deVil at Jessis Furniture & JF Clublights.
I met Jessi himself who proved to be a talented and interesting person.
Jessi told me he came to be on GCG because “I was nosy :) Been here several Times by Grid Hopping”
He decided he wanted to see if his Items work here and if he could make it as my HG Center for my Store. So he rented a Sim.
There are two outlets. His main sim is Gloebit purchasing, and his store at Lakefield Mall is set up of course for our grid currency MC.
Jessi has found he likes the friendly support and easy to meet, nice people
Although he hasn’t been on GCG very long, he feels maybe his Items helped a bit and he likes to always help wherever he can.
I can tell you that his fog machines are wonderful. They gave me exactly the look I wanted on my land to simulate a Scottish moor area and around my cemetary.
Bonus was the foam machine, which I couldn’t resist. If you have ever been to a foam party, you know what I mean!
Jessi feels our grid makes it easy to meet nice people and you also can be at your own if you need it.
His future plans are unsure, but what he says is that right now he like it very much here.
Jessi has a cute neko type avatar, which reflects his description of himself as open minded mischievous and always up for fun :)
I toured both stores and his furniture is awesome, with great texture changers and sleek nice designs. His club lights are amazing and the dance floors and other items are just very cool to see.
I can see his store being a virutal “go to” for club items as well as his other well made items.
Jessi, thanks so much for arriving here to spread more sunshine on our awesome grid.
