Walking around the region this morning, tidying up here and there, I am reminded how peaceful it is lately. No clamoring, no drama, it is peaceful.
Some seek out grids for various reasons, for me it is about a feeling of belonging and being welcomed into a community of friends who become family. A place I can create peacefully.
The Great Canadian Grid is a country club compared to many grids. We have just enough merchants to make shopping enjoyable, and most of the people here are long term residents with their roots planted firmly into the Canadian soil.
When Roddie Macchi set this grid up, he based it on his values of what is important to him, which made many residents question and some were upset and left, but he kept his goals in mind. This doesn't mean he did not offer anyone who asked to try new things. He did. If it were something he wasn't sure about, he would post a poll at forum to reach out and get input from the residents. He does give the residents a voice that most grids overlook. Because of this, we now have a community that is country club living at it's finest, thank you Roddie.
Deciding what is important doesn't always mean sales, or lots of events. It is about a community of like minded people striving to achieve a balanced and loving community.
