Nov 13, 2013 ... ..Rezz Day of the Great Canadian Grid, in the Open Sim World.
Did Roddie Macchi, really realize what he was creating in the months, years that led up to that moment? Yes, he dreamed of; what he wanted, what it could be, what he hoped it would be. That dream drove him to keep going when others may of given up. That dream kept him going, when he was too tired to eat or even to sleep. That dream became reality... well virtual reality.
Nov 13, 2018 .... is the 5th Birthday of Great Canadian Grid. Yes, 5 years of more work, some play, many hours spent developing the grid into what it is today.
Nov 16, 17 & 18, 2018 ..... we have 3 days of celebrations, fun, excitement, community spirit, friendships, both old and new, love for our neighbors, each other on so many levels and celebrations with our awesome DJ's , live musicians, fireworks, community built decorations, re-living old memories, parades and making new friends and new memories. What a weekend it will be. As a resident of GCG, for only a short time, I thank Roddie for creating a community where like minded people can enjoy; creating, socializing, having fun, helping each other, getting cranky and kissing and making out... um I mean making up! Just as any family does. A family from so many nations throughout the world but with a like minded attitude to life, albeit virtual.
Happy 5th Rezz Day ~ Roddie Macchi and GCG!

"We don't know them all, but we owe them all" (unknown)
Many of us have loved ones who fought for freedom to keep their loved ones from danger and tyranny. We all hear the words "he/she served her country" but, deeper than that, they risked their lives for their family and friends. They risked their lives for those who came after them. And, they risked their lives for us.
Yesterday, 11,11,2018, Tigerkitti Eberdene hosted a most beautiful service to honor the men and women that sacrificed so much for their country. As the heartfelt poem "In Flander's Field" by John McCrae drifted over the virtual landscape of Dragonmoor's War Memorial, my thoughts drifted to the incredible amount of people that have fought a war for me so I may live in peace.
As I stand and look at the faces of those who fought in many different "trenches" in so many incredible situations, it truly brings tears to my eyes. As their pictures smile back at me, I silently thank them for all they have done..all they have so selflessly given.
If you have not been to Dragonmoor's Veteran's Memorial, please do visit It is not just a place to come once or twice. It is a place of gathering to remember ultimate love.

……. speaking of a new chapter, there certainly is one being created for yours truly, the newly appointed Publisher for The Sun.
My first thought when Roddie offered me the position was…. Gosh how could I fill Marianna’s shoes ? She had created such an amazing publication and was quick and professional. How could I fit this into my very hectic lifestyle on the grid ? How many events would I be unable to attend due to deadlines? What would it be like working with my new boyfriend?
Roddie in his patient, loving manner reassured me, that he had faith in my abilities to undertake the work, that it would be fun working together, so I relaxed and said, "Alright I will do it."
So here I am, surrounded by some amazing support people to enthuse, inspire and encourage each other to meet our deadlines. To look further afield than we have before. To keep the same professional standard of publication but also to put our New Team spin on it. How exciting !
So for me, Angel, my experiences in Real Life (RL) provides me with the ability to put pen to paper or rather keyboard to monitor and express, hopefully in an interesting, creative manner topics that will encourage you, the reader and residents of GCG to explore, attend and create events, regions and friendships that will, entertain, support and develop your own and others creative natures to the maximum, while nurturing the wonderful community spirit that is felt from the minute you first rezz, and that which welcomed me to the grid.
If I am doing things right, please tell me. If I am doing them wrong, please tell me, as I am willing to change/alter things as the publication really is about You… the residents of GCG.
Well Team, lets get out there and find those interesting places and stories that need to be shared. The Team, also includes You the reader. If you have something you wish to share or think we should write about, please email : firstname.lastname@example.org
It is with mixed emotions that we hear and read Marianna’s post in regards to her closing one chapter and opening another.
Selfishly, sadness for us as a person who has provided so much dedication, professionalism and creativity to The Sun, making it a popular and a go-to resource for residents, leaves a large hole in our extensive media strategy.
The official quarterly magazine, The Sun, as well as providing regular updates on a range of topics of interest to the residents of the Great Canadian Grid, was no easy task to create and maintain, but she did it. Willingly, with passion and unending energy. Putting aside her own creative energies and channeling them into the grid wide publication.
Then on reflection we went, HANG ON!, what about Mari! Yes indeed, what about Mari? So much has changed for her in the last couple of years, so many emotions, plans, creativity happening but not what was really in her heart. The passion and desire to create beautiful pieces of jewelery for not only GCG residents but for those drawn from throughout the Open Sim grids.
Finally, Mari acknowledged that it was time to close a chapter. We accept her decision with heartfelt thanks that words cannot really express. It is not goodbye, as Mari and Reyne are not leaving GCG but rather giving themselves and each other more time to spend together, to work together and play together. Now that is a good thing indeed.
On hearing of Marianna’s decision, Roddie Macchi, Grid Owner had this to say;
"Well....what can I say....Let me put it this way, I don't think very many realized just how much work Marianna actually did here for me. Not only did she run and write and plan and redesign my entire GCG Sun Paper, not only did she build the GCG Communications region for it, Not only did she spend countless hours on blender making rings for region owners and special occasions for events, not only did she organize and help keep the parades we had here with great floats and such, not only did she test things with me so that we had links for anyone needing help so we had them done for them, but she was also my morning coffee lol. Your probably wondering what that
means to me alone. Well for someone who is constantly working myself, chances were it was always Marianna and I that were online first on GCG in the mornings to get our day started, and I mean early lol. So we would start our days off talking about what needed to be fixed on the Sun or if anyone from the night before needed help and I wasn't online at the time she told me. And we did this as we both sat at our computers from wherever our homes are in the real world drinking our morning coffee.
That I'll miss the most.
But the biggest thing out of all this...is never did she ever ask for a free region or money or any kind of donation. She did all this for years for GCG and ONLY GCG...for free....just because she wanted to....for us.
How do you you thank someone like that? lol...you can't...you cry lol...knowning shes leaving lol.
But seriously Marianna, from the bottom of my heart and the many years of watching you work...god bless you and thank you sincerely.
Roddie Macchi......no...Rod MacDougall "
Mari and Reyn on behalf of the residents of GCG, the current Sun team and those who have worked for you in the past, we wish you all the very best for the new chapter that you are starting together and will watch with delight as your creativity emerges and transforms both your own lives as well as the GCG. Au Revoir.
