Lani Kalea, a native Hawaiian, is a Storyteller, Writer, Poet and Lecturer, in real life as well as in the Virtual Worlds of Second Life and InWorldz. In 2006 she was the first to bring live voice storytelling to Second Life, a 3D virtual world where users can socialize, create and share a wide variety of skills and talents. Her voice has been called "hypnotic" and "lilting" and "captivating". Her writing fuses English and Hawaiian with the sounds of chants and the blending of narrative styles of both worlds. She has presented legends, chants, her stories and poetry in Europe, Asia, New Zealand and the Continental United States. She grew up in Hawaii surrounded by classical western and Hawaiian music, art and culture. She speaks Hawaiian Englidh and French. She has completed graduate studies in Hawaiian, all classes done in the Hawaiian language. She has lent her support through her voice in song, story and speech to the perpetuation and preservation of her culture.
