When you come to a virtual world you have many choices with what to do with your time. For many, it is to work and create because RL limitations can make it difficult to do in RL, or they work RL and come in to relax and build inworld.
The hours I spend virtual, I like to make the very best of my time so that it is not wasted. I am always trying to learn new techniques every day to further my skills. It is very rewarding. I see lots come online and say, where are all the people, I am bored and they begin spinning their wheels, not developing their skills, they just sit idle and stew in their displeasure of being bored. They contact all their friends on their list and, complain about the grid as if the grid is at fault. Idle hands, idle time, too many negative thoughts lead to an empty virtual life.
There are many ways to stay active in a virtual world.
Tigerkitti Eberdene just started a great building school called The Learning Tree, where she holds weekly classes on Tuesdays at 1 PM GCG time.
You will also find many youtube videos on everything from designing raw terrain files to how to work with Blender, Photoshop, Gimp, Sketchup, etc
Take just one hour a day and learn something new, do this every day and soon you will have skills that keep you so busy creating and having fun that you will not be so focused on people to entertain you. You won’t have time to focus on negative stuff, because you will be to busy learning and creating. Expand your mind and see where your own imagination can take you!
TROMSO EXPO located in Tromso Bibliotek (library) - replica as seen at RL city
Jimmy Olsen has opened this Expo to show people how the RL Tromso looks with some curiosities, like midnight Sun in summer and period of darkness during winter.
Each floor has a souvenir (Scandinavian related)
When arriving at SIM, click at teleporter located outside freebie store and choose EXPO as destination.

The Colossal is now open for your entertainment!
The inspiration for this dance floor came from a dance floor I had in Second Life called "Penumbra". The dance floor in SL was a Novatech item and was created by TimoL Macmillian.
What you see with my dance floor is that it is similar in design to Timol's design, but with subtle changes. Timol's dance floor operated with a Hud. It controlled everything from lights, lasers, different presets for moods right down to the floor texture on the dance floor circle.
My dance floor is controlled by the DJ Booth, at lease most of the lights are, the dance floor is a separate control as is the rotating lights above the floor.
I am still relatively new to working with scripts and building complex items. But I think I have created something that has a certain uniqueness to it. So far this has been the most complex item of all my builds.
I hope you all enjoy this as much as I have (for, the most part) enjoyed building this dream!
Please feel free to drop by anytime 24/7 with planned events in the near future. hop://login.greatcanadiangrid.ca:8002/Coridan/255/309/2003

The beauty about caves is, they are mostly outside. Inside caves it feels totally safe, and intimate, and those perceptions are pretty, gosh, well, spot on. So that’s what caves are for, to get away from the not-safe and the not-intimate. They tend to be solid, so it’s there and you can explore knowing you’re anchored by a solid place, watched over, eff, why, eye, by a Guardianess. The island is called Silver Birch, and it’s about relaxing to find yourself. Or find yourself dancing with an NPC, sort of thing.
Most of the island is covered by mountains, and izzo fracto, under-mountains, and sky layers - so you have to do a lot of poking around to see what’s what. There’s a teleport hutch by the mossy tree, but there’s eleventeen of those so click the pictures I guess. It’s easy. Place is crawling with free-to-copy stuff.
But the cave is not crawling with anything. Those chemical experiments I run are accidentally great bug bombs, also hard on your pants and beard. So if you are thinking, “Dank? Eww! Dank getaway from me!” Remember this, dank is a force of nature, you need to embrace it back, not to personify it. You will remember your Dank Getaway - so that’s two new things right there already.
This retreat is one of the Weekender Getaway rentals, if interested in renting it FREE for the weekend, check-in Noon Friday, check-out 5PM Sunday, please email firstname.lastname@example.org

Opensim grids have been blooming since 2007. I get the same question every time no matter which
Hypergrid Grid I visit. Which grid do you live on?
Many people don't quite understand what that question means to them.
Or how they should even take the question in the first place.
There are now over 400 Grids out there that one can live on, that's right 400!
Not just Great Canadian Grid or Digiworldz or Baller Nation, but 400!! other grids.
Don't believe me, well here is just a small list of them.
I used to be just as bad as some by asking "Where is everyone?" thinking I was on a closed
grid like Second Life, forgetting that there are 400 other grids that anyone could be at.
Remember this, it will come up again.
With Osgrid also being a grid within a grid, everyone with a computer can tap into Osgrids
servers by just downloading the software that all commercial grids run their programs on and
VOILA you have your own region or regions that act like a personal grid. And in Osgrid
there are thousands of personal little grids within a grid.
People who are followers tend to follow others, this is fact.
But in Opensim one has to realize that with so many grids out there where does one actually live?
Now be careful of these questions so far, listen carefully to them,
Which grid do you LIVE on? and Where is everyone?
Remember most grids are out there to make money. To MAKE someone live on their grid (well so
they think lol) and they will keep their grid Closed. This means that you cannot travel anywhere
other than inside that same grid… period! Such as Second Life, Inworldz, etc.
Grids who have hypergrid abilities are also there to make money by getting people to by buying regions from them, it's their only way of making money. Especially if its a Business for them. But also in order to keep everyone on that grid they need to have them LIVE there. It’s a catch
twenty-two. Without people buying regions, servers don't get paid, without servers there's no place to have regions, no place to LIVE and no Grid..:(
Here is what people do on a constant basis in the opensim world:
1. They land on one of 400 grids in the metaverse.
2. They travel the hypergrid.
3. They meet others.
4. They form friends.
5. Them and their friends then find a grid they want to LIVE on.
6. They get high hopes of making tons of friends on this grid.
7. They get high hopes of making lots of money on this grid.
8. Their friends get frustrated, bored and so in turn create bad vibes.
9. Their friends and them get bummed out, negative, and leave, then so do they.
10. They all find another grid to LIVE on. And do it alllll over again lol.
These are the type of people who are never satisfied no matter where they LIVE.
They want instant gratification or they want at least recognition.
In other words, they want to feel important.
First rule of Living in Opensim is to never expect others to entertain you or make you happy.
LIVING in opensim is something that you want to do because you are already happy and just want
to LIVE somewhere peaceful and make friends, make friends where you LIVE, not follow them.
If you are following your friends you’re in trouble already. Because they are probably one of
those types who are never satisfied and will have you following them to every grid they go to.
I have seen this time and time again lol.
Now let’s go back to those two questions. Where do you Live? and Where is everyone?
If you have friends saying this to you or telling you this then they are the types that aren't happy
unless someone else is there to make them happy for them. Or entertain them like I like to say.
And where is everyone? Since you are probably on a Hypergrid enabled Grid where anyone could go or be at, at any 400 grids out there, chances are their busy lol. Also,
If you find that those who have made friends think they should always be online or are there for
you, then you are sadly missing out on all the other two hundred people that just joined that grid
you are on who you have not noticed, or even exists yet because they are not on your friends list.
And if their leaving or not online anymore, you don't even think of finding or
exploring the possibilities of making NEW friends where you now LIVE.
You know?...the other 200 who came in last week lol.
Remember where you live? lol. Well, does it matter? You are on grids where you can travel from
grid to grid to see your friends. That’s like saying if you don't live in my city I'm sorry I can't come
see you lol. Isn't that the whole point of having that luxury of hypergrids!
If you make a friend in real life and they move, do you sell your house and move where they did..lol.
It boils down to one thing and one thing really. Prices and Money.
Do yourself a favor, support the grid you choose to LIVE on by purchasing a region with them and LIVE there.
Or shop around for the cheapest one and LIVE there on that grid and travel.
Everyone has all these options at their disposal and yet everyone complains about the grid they’re
on because no one is there to entertain them. Then get in your car and HYPERGRID OUT!
What's wrong with you lol. That’s like saying if your city never has ACDC there then you're
leaving and packing up and heading to Orleans to live lol. God forbid you actually travel to where
ACDC is playing!
Hypergrid is a beautiful luxury. You are NOT bided by law to LIVE on any particular Grid because
all your friends are there. If the grid you are on says you have to LIVE just there
because that is where all your friends are, then I suggest leaving that grid lol.
Oh wait...that's why Closed Grids do that lol.
LIVE where you want to be and travel where your friends are. If they don't want to come
visit you then they’re not really your friends now are they. How much effort does it really
take to Hypergrid out of a grid ;)
To conclude on this I say, LIVE where you want, don't be a follower, if you can't find your friends
make new ones until you or them come visit you, if you find its dead, find new friends who are not on your friends list.
Get off your butt and actually go places new, explore! Love your home, support
your grid that’s working for you so you have a home to LIVE.
Don't always think that a new grid or another grid is better than that grid lol.
They are practically all the same and all run by the same Opensim Code.
I live in Ottawa Ontario in Real Life, My family is not here, nor are my closest friends,
There's not that many stores here either, I LIVE here because this City
is Beautiful, the people are nice and drama free, and I can be who I want to be and do what
I want to do...well there's also tons of single women here, but thats besides the point lmao.
