The Great Canadian Grid Flora Map is available for pick up at the GCG Communications Region and various regions throughout the grid. When you touch the flora image on the map you will be teleported to that regions flowers. Thank you region owners who contributed.
Happy Birthday, GCG Sun online :) We have been bringing you articles for a year here and we are still growing strong. For some, they thought GCG did not have newsworthy articles but if you go back through the articles you will find we had lots going on, with lots to report.
We covered everything from, the first open Mic night, to the Green Family Values. All one has to do is venture beyond their region to find fun and exciting things to do in GCG.
A venture to GCG Welcome is often overlooked but one should because the landmark board has new places to explore. If you don't have your landmark at the landmark board please submit to Roddie Macchi and let him know you want it placed there.
This publication is full of things to do, so check each tab here, Magazine, Roleplay, #myGCG, and Grid Poet.
We thank you for your continued support, we would not be publishing news, if it was not for you.

As I sat here pondering about some of the main questions I hear from others on our lovely grid, I thought about how it may be helpful to put together a little bit on helpful information.
So in that light, here goes. One question often asked is how long will it take for me to get my land I purchased up. The average time is about 24 hours, but be patient! Roddie is only ONE person, who also has a real life job and responsibilities for many things. He will get to it as soon as he can. If for some reason you think it is taking an overly long time, then please, just email Roddie and ask him.
If you have issues with your land, going into the group does not help at all! What it does do is foster concern over the grid and how it is being run. The last thing we want to see is people questioning our home grid and making others feel insecure.
In this case, contact Maximus Lear, or even a grid helper first. If he or the others cannot help you, then email Roddie with the questions. Be specific. Just saying, things are messed up doesn't give enough information on what is needed to be done. Give them your region name. List exactly what is happening.
For example. I can't get to my land. Well, first off try going to the GCG webpage and restart your land. This can take anywhere between 15 minutes to even half an hour when the
grid is busy. I have had times where it took two restarts to solve the issue at hand.
This is not the grid's fault, or the servers, it is a glitch that ALL grids, yes even SL has. The information being sent is somehow caught in a glitch and just needs to be reset. Same thing with when you cannot rez yourself in etc. Clearing cache, signing out and back in is the first things.
Just like in rl when they tell you to do the "unplug" test when your phone or internet is not working. It just needs to have the information resent. Simple as that.
Ok so, next questions that arise often is where to find things you need. For building, clothing, other items etc.
If you want certain things, then you go to search. Do not be upset with landmarks not working. Unfortunately there is no way to remove the landmarks that have been put into the search by people who decided to leave the grid, or to just get rid of their land, store whatever. If one doesn't work, try another. Voicing this to others won't do any good.
You can also search Opensim pages for places that may have what you are looking for. When you click on a place, it will open the page further to show you what all is there. In doubt? Explore! Sometimes you may look for one thing, and find many other things that are useful.
As for looking for items such as clothing templates, textures etc....there are many good links that I will be providing along with this article that you can go to upload free content items
for GCG. Whether is it textures, sculpts, even some mesh items, they are there for your use. Make use of these links to find what you want.
It is always good to be sure you are getting content that is not copywritten. That being said, yes there are many copybot items on Opensim grids. It is difficult at times to know what is what, but if you see something that is for sale in one place, but given free in another, chances are the one for sale has been wrongly used.
Building. Many want to build, but are unsure how. There are many resources out there including "how to" videos on Youtube. Resourcing the information there can show you how to do something you felt was too hard. Attending the building classes at The Learning Tree can also be helpful. Krull Kitty, Douglas McCloud and myself are there to help with any issues you may have or need advice for.
The information that is included in this article, along with some very helpful tools will be at the GCG Communications area, as well as at my store on ScotsDale. This box will give you items that will help you in many things. Landscaping tools that help you get large or smaller areas as you want them to look. A "Searchbert" engine that will help you find lost prims. Easier than the area search and very helpful if it is not on your own land.
Last but not least, take advantage of all the sites, the videos and the helpers on the grid. It is all there for the taking, or the asking.
We want our grid to run smoothly, with little to no issues. Following the recommendations on how to solve issues is the only way this can be achieved.
Again, complaining to all about an issue will not solve it, it will only foster malcontent and suspicions about our amazing grid. We all need to follow this, and help each other. If you have something to add, that is amazing. If you are willing to help others, even better.
The Great Canadian Grid is in my opinion the best out there. Let's all work together to ensure that we keep it that way, and always look to a bright future here.
A special thanks to the creators who supplied the links and tools.

In honor of his favorite explorer, Roald Amundsen, Jimmy Olsen has created the Polaria Arctic Museum replica at his Tromso region.
As seen in Wiki : Roald Engelbregt Gravning Amundsen 16 July 1872 – 18 June 1928) was a Norwegian explorer of polar regions. As the leader of the Antarctic expedition of 1910–12, which was the first to reach the South Pole, on 14 December 1911, he was a key expedition leader during the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration. In 1926, he was the first expedition leader for the air expedition to the North Pole, making him the first person, without dispute, to reach both poles. He is also known as having the first expedition to traverse the Northwest Passage (1903–06) in the Arctic.
Here Jimmy will feature infos about Roald Gravning, and offer free souvenirs. The building is a unique replica featuring a beautiful aquarium with Norwegian fishes, laks fisks.
Because of our veteran players in GCG paying more than beta prices Roddie is able to offer that same pricing to everyone new coming in now!

In January 2017 we received a note addressed to Reyn Softly, from Dance Partner for Reyn's column Dear Reyn. I remembered that article especially now because Reyn just gave me a Clubmaster Dance ball by Aine.Caoimhe - modified with funny Reyn Softly NPC dance partners. I could not help but reflect back on this article he wrote addressing Dance Partner, yes there is an avatar named that at GCG.
This was published in our inworld edition of the GCG Sun, January 2017, many of you missed this.
Reyn Softly's modified Clubmaster Dance ball , worked like magic. Dancing and laughing with all the fun partners he created healed a wounded heart. Where bonds were formed, and a newly found admiration for Dance Partners, long may they live. Thank you Reyn.
Tonight at 4 p.m. GCG time, we will be holding our first Open Mic event! Come join in the fun. Sing, tell a short story or jokes. Play an instrument....show us YOUR talents!
I would suggest coming early so that you can read the sign on how it all works.
See you there! Hugs....
Ye Olde Dragon Inn just IM Tig for a TP!
We have created a main Roleplay page, with the Roleplay venues nested under the main page. This will be current ongoing roleplays for each roleplay venue. If you have a Roleplay venue and you would like to feature your ongoing roleplays at the GCG Sun, please contact Marianna Monentes so that your page can be created and added under the main Roleplay tab. Then as you have your roleplays, if you could please submit these journals to Marianna at firstname.lastname@example.org they will be added in a blogging format, which will keep current roleplays on top so that your readers can go to your tab, and see where you are in the storyline
Beautiful flowers are blossoming in many of the Great Canadian Grid regions. It is time to shake those winter blues and venture out to the many regions that welcome you with the warmth of springtime.
Flora in abundance can be found, let's map the regions together. When you find regions alive with spring flowers please submit to email@example.com to be included in our "Regions in Flowers" map.
These flowers seen are from the SCANDINAVIAN FLORA HUD, by Jimmy Olsen, when you add it to your browser the menu has many beautiful flowers to choose, what a brilliant idea. This HUD can be found at the Tromso region, where you can also find his Tree and Hedge HUD too.
