Once, way back in 2009, I had a dream.
This dream was to create a special family, and a place for them to live, play and just be a part of something.
I started off in a Bloodlines clan on SL. It was an amazing family. We did a lot of roleplay. VTM style. (Vampire the Masquerade) The Queen there was amazing and I am happy we are still friends.
As time went on, I got very involved and was loving this new life. Unfortunately, the clan decided to go to modern times. I preferred the medieval we had done, so I decided to leave.
I went to another clan, which turned out to be defintely NOT the better grass on the other side of the hill.
So, I left and was a "free agent". After many other clans tried to recruit me, I decided that for me, the best thing to do would be to start one of my own.
So, Failte Touta clan was born. The name is special. I made it up from Celtic names. Failte means "welcome", and Touta means "a group of people, not nessesarily related by blood, who come together on a land to form a family and home. So, the rough translation is "Welcome Home". My clanlands, and my clan are based on my own rl Scottish heritage.
Years went by and my clan, although smaller, thrived. We did not really bother as much with the Bloodlines aspect as the roleplay, and that feeling of family and home.
Our number one unbreakable rule was that we did not ever "random bite" anyone. I felt that anyone joining should know exactly what they would be getting into...the time and money involved especially.
My clan was a "home for the homeless", a place where friends and family gathered together to have fun.
Over time, interest in doing things together waned, and although we are still a family there, not much goes on at all. I myself got more into building and creating things that I was interested in.
In Oct. 2014, my long time friend Roddie Macchi approached me about recreating my Veteran's memorial here on GCG.
Having the idea of my creations being on another world was definitely interesting to me, since my memorials are my most "proud of" builds. I gladly accepted and in time GCG became my home.
The fact I could create so much with little to no rl money invested was the biggest draw of all. To help form a new world is amazing and fulfilling.
In time, this area became an army base as well, but something was missing for me.
Early on, I had felt well, naked without my fangs. They were so much a part of "who I was" character wise.
So with this in mind, I got a second sim and recreated my Failte Touta clan here on GCG.
I made fangs as well.
I have had a few people from my SL clan join, but as yet we haven't enough members to truly do any roleplay or even much of get-togethers without inviting others.
My clan on SL, and also here, has always welcomed beings of all races. Human, Elven, Fairy, Lycan, Angels even.
The idea for me is that all races can choose to live as family. Sure there may be some differences but what a world we have when we can all get along and live as one family.
On GCG there is no Bloodlines. No need to feed. No need to spend hundreds of our real life money to maintain the image we create for our characters.
This makes it so much better! We can do roleplay of our characters without the need to break our real life banks. We can just be "ourselves". The roleplay style I prefer is basic...I call it "on the fly". The reason for this is that I do not care so much for the hugely structured "Para-RP" where you take 20 minutes to type out your reply. You can research roleplay on the White Wikki from Google.
We all are roleplaying as ourselves. Our character is as much a part of our rl selves as we wish to let into our online lives.
We can create that character easily, how better to create and play a character, than to play "yourself"?
So, this being said, I would like to invite anyone who has interest in having a family, a place to call home, or to roleplay.
There is a farm here that anyone who is in the clan group can work on. Grow crops, feed animals, even bake or get drunk! It can be a lot of fun, and good for when there is no events on, or you are just looking to pass the time.
We have the castle here, which is very large. There are rooms for clan members if they wish to live in the castle, or there is also a village with free to use houses on the opposite side of the castle.
Also, there is another village by the marketplace in the sky.
We have Ye Olde Dragon Inn, where I have been attempting to get others out to come to Open Mic nights. We can sing, tell jokes, poetry, any talent you may have and wish to share with others.
The castle ballroom will be where the Vampire/Gothic Ball will be held on the 26th of May. This should be a great time for all, with Maldrul Smith as DJ. We will all dress vampire or Gothic, and the dance ball has some wonderful vampire/goth dancers in it to use thanks to Reyn Softly.
The land here has many levels, and many things to explore. Like winter? DragonMoor Northern Reach is the place to go. Skating, even a lovely dance area up on a cliff.
Want to feel like you are on a vacation in Northern Ontario? DragonMoor South Lake resort is the place to be. Mermaid fancies? The lake has a wonderful area below the water.
Underground below the stonehenge area is mines. The dungeon under the castle has three levels, even BDSM for those inclined.
Like to shop or want a store of your own? The marketplace has many wonderful shops, and creators, and more shops still available.
Do you like to build, or want to learn? The Learning Tree area has classes each Tuesday, where you can learn new things, or expand on what you already know.
You can play greedy on several areas of the land here. Tic tac toe anyone? Just chill out and cuddle? We have that too.
Want to get married? The army base has a lovely church free to use. There is a lovely little garden beside the church that would be a great place to propose.
Do you like the idea of roleplaying army? The base has all you need. Barracks, offices, even an underground fallout shelter.
My aim is to provide for new people, and for those who have been here a while wanting something to do.
A place to call home....family and friends.
No drama, just fun times for all.
If you are interested, please let me know...bigger family means more to do, more ideas to mull over. People to help you with anything you need or want.
This is my dream, and I want it to continue here on GCG, for myself, and for all. Even if you don't want to be vampire, even if you already have a home...this can be your home...away from home.
Come see for yourself! And Failte!
