Many of you have come to know Finarfin and his lovely wife Earwen, having seen them around at the events. What you probably don't realize is they have been creating a Tolkien themed region that is a pleasure to explore.
Earwen is currently creating Aman, Blessed Realm an Enchanting castle, dedicated to JRR Tolkien's Silmarillion. Many hours have gone into creating this region; we are so fortunate it is being built here at the Great Canadian Grid for us to all enjoy.
I wanted to know more what inspired them and what brought them to the Great Canadian Grid, so I had a visit with Finarfin, and this is what he shared with me.
"My wife and I had been involved with Second Life Grid for some time but had become disenchanted with the main role play group in which we had been involved for many years. We had become active with a second role play group in Inworldz, which recently was lost.
In addition, we had also become dissatisfied with the social environment and the prohibited cost of owning land and "grid living" which dampened our creativity as we had no place to build.
We had heard very good things about GCG from our dear friend Valla Bonetto, On her suggestion I came to check out the Grid and subsequently brought my wife, who was impressed with what she found here.
Much to our delight we found that a dear friend (Rik Sullivan) and leader of another RP group in SL that we belonged to, had many sims here. We also found several of our other friends here. When Rik found out we were here, he invited us to his group (Alardania) and gave us land and RP and building opportunities.
We also found new friends and a wonderful welcoming and helpful environment. Even though at this point there are not many creators in GCG, my wife saw many future opportunities for her creative outlets.
All of the above and the fact that land is vastly less expensive and the cost of design and creation (downloading of textures and mesh/sculpts at a price of $0), has made us want to stay and make our home here. "
