Well today is a sad day in opensim and virtual worlds. InWorldz from what I have heard is closing. Now before I go on here, I really feel I need to say something straight up.
Most commercial grids work hard to get where they are...meaning the people behind the works. When you see a grid as well known as IW leave...no matter who you are...owner or resident...you feel a loss. Its like Batman and the Joker...or Superman and Lex Luthor...of course there's no good guy bad guy in grid owners lol...but you get the drift...we all do the same thing to each other as grid owners...compete. And if you want to sit and think that doesn't happen then your kidding yourself cause it does. Hell I had over 900 regions at one time and poof for some strange reason alot of them left to my tech guys grid digiworldz...meh...it happens....and there will be grids, new grids popping up yet again next yr...where they too will compete for customers.
I can probably bet even right now as I type this, other grids are flocking like vultures to get those residents so that they purchase regions on their grid so they make the money from their loss.
I think thats what I'm getting at...its sad...its sad to see IW have to go...yea we all competed with them as well but yet without lex luthor or the joker what good is the show.
Well, now that we are losing a huge part of the opensim competitive world....especially one who actually hit such heights...and such achievements that no other opensim grid ever did...I tip my hat to them as a grid owner for a job well done. 10 yrs of putting up with what they did. And 10 yrs of their countless hours of hard work for everyone. Today is a day not to be excited as a grid owner but to sit and reflect of the times and trials of knowing InWorldz as one of the most amazing opensim grids I ever knew.
You won't see me doing what most grid owners will do...and gain from your loss...I'll be here on my grid reflecting about all the good you did for so many of us...including me at one time :)
Thank you InWorldz for being a part of MY life in opensim.
You will be missed and thought of.
