OK so, you are a new member perhaps, or someone who is interested in learning how to build.
Where to start? This question can be a daunting one for someone who is new to it all.
Or perhaps you are someone who knows the basics, and wants to improve, or learn more.
Well, GCG has the place for you!
First place to learn to build would be the GCG Sandbox. On the sandbox there are tools to help you get started. You find these in the little stores. Dress and skirt prims for those inclined to try clothing. Sculpts of many different items worth checking out that you can implement into your builds.
On the sandbox you can build big, or small. This gives you a place with space to work.
Another great idea is to travel! Yes, travel around our grid and check out the many wonderful builds that people have made. See what their ideas are, and perhaps you may like a design, or look you see. Now, you don't want to copy anyone of course, but seeing how others set things up can be a great way to get ideas for your own place or designs.
Now, what if you need some help? Well the GCG Builders Club is the place!
Roddie and I co-own this group, and good news! We are here to help! Roddie himself will not be teaching, but may pop in to see how things are going and offer up suggestions.
I have created an area on my land that has been set up as a build area, and adjacent to it....the Learning Tree area.
This area is designed as a space where everyone can have a seat, and a teacher will be there holding the class, and showing you how to do different build ideas.
I will be teaching basics, and how to use textures as opposed to more and more prims to create a build that is both lovely, and functional.
We also have Douglas McCloud who has agreed to teach some of his skills. We will be looking for other teachers as well, who have skills in scripting or other things that we are not as good at.
So, if you are a builder and want to help, if you know how to manipulate prims and scripts, or have other skills you fell would be helpful we need you! The amount of time spent teaching will vary on how many teachers we get on board, and we will be looking at a once a week class for now. Even if you would like to just be a "guest teacher" and not full time that would be a great contribution for our project.
For those of you wanting to learn, I suggest you check out all the areas and send myself, or Douglas McCloud suggestions on just what you would like to learn how to do.
We will be setting up the class time and day soon. Watch for announcements!
OH and if you have not already done so, please join the GCG Builders Club. This is where the announcements will come from mainly.
Here is to a wonderful new venture, and the future builders we will help to become the best!
